| Communications function |
The RS485 enables communications with external control equipment
A RS485 port is mounted. The communications function provides for a transmission speed of 9600 bps, full duplex (start-stop synchronous) and multi-dropped connection (max.4 units). The compressor status monitoring system (COSMOS) makes it easier for the user to supervise the compressor using a computer in the office. |

Hitachi Air Compressor Status Monitoring System (COSMOS) |
| TInterfacing between IT and the air compressor realize management by a remote monitoring system. |
| For the user who has an intranet-system, compressor conditions can be monitored anywhere. |
| |
|
COSMOS mainly provides monitoring. |
|
COSMOS is suitable for the New DSP screw compressors. (single-stage. two-stage, and V type). |
|
Up to tour compressors can be connected to one COSMOS unit. |
|
The simplified Web server function allows you to monitor the compressor by means of the Web browser installed on the PC on the network. (Specialized software is not needed for the PC.)
| |
Features
|
one COSMOS unit monitors up to four compressors in a batch. (Inspection frequencies and maintenance man-hours can be reduced.) Animated operating conditions and bar-graphed measurements allow one-glance status monitoring.
|
|
COSMOS contributes to energy savings by monitoring the operation parameters such as load factor, current, operating data at scheduled time and mean load data. (The operating frequencies and outputs can be monitored for the V-type compressors.)
|
|
In cases when trouble occurs, you can identify the problem from the fault history and send the machine data to the service staff easily. COSMOS can also access the Internet and/or files in the PC through on-screen software buttons.
|
|
Since the existing intranet can be used and an RS485 Multi Drop cable system is employed, easy wiring is attainable and consequently, an economical monitoring system can be constructed. When the optional database software is introduced, additional functions such as trend generation will be available to enhance the monitoring capability.

| Notes: |
| 1. |
The power cord is equipped with an AC adapter. The supplied cord must always be used. |
| 2. |
The package contains a D-SUB 25-pin connector, However, the necessary cable must be provided by the user before wiring. |
| 3. |
The PC should be a DOS/V machine with Windows 95 or higher operating system. ("Windows" is a registered trademark of Microsoft Corporation.) |
| 4. |
Appearance and specifications are subject to change without prior notice. |
| 5. |
The user must set up the monitoring PC so that it will be fit for the LAN environment. |
| 6. |
COSMOS must always be installed indoors. (It is recommended that the system be installed in a place that is dust-free with low humidity, such as an office with a less corrosive environment.) |
| 7. |
The compressor needs to support the communications feature. If not, the control board of the compressor must be replaced with an upgraded board that supports communications. |
| 8. |
The maximum cable length of 250 m is a guideline. If the user wants to run cables with a length exceeding 250 m, please consult the Hitachi Service Station. |
| 9. |
The necessary software is preinstalled in COSMOS at the Hitachi factory. If any trouble occurs, please contact the nearest Hitachi Service Station.
Dual Operation (option)
|
Alternate and lead-lag operation of two compressors is possible only with wiring between 2 compressors without using the alternate operation panel.

Other options
Automatic restart at momentary power failure This function automatically restarts the compressor after momentary power failure. It is possible to preset a restart condition(momentary power failure time:1 to 5 seconds).
AUTO operation This function constantly calculates the load factor and stops the compressor automatically when the load becomes low, thereby saving the power consumption.
Communication between 2 compressors allows operation mode switching by pressure and failure judgement.
- Master and slave compressors are switched alternately in preset intervals (alternate operation function)
- If the air volume is not sufficient, the slave compressor runs for backing up the master (pressure trace-up function)
- If one compressor shuts down, the other compressor backs it up (failure trace-up function)

Oil Mist Remover |
The oil mist occuring in a gear case is almost completely eliminated by the vacuum ejector method that maintains a negative pressure environment in the gear case. Full of rapped oil content is collected in a gear case.
For Clean Environment
The installation environment is improved by eliminating the oil mist from the gear casing.
Improved Lubricating Oil Consumption
The collected oil is recycled to the gear casing. This saves the trouble of resupplying the lubricating oil and enables easier operation management.
High Reliability
A highly reliable shaft seal is realized by the application of negative pressure in the gear casing. The design prevents oil mist from mixing with the compressed air.
Easy Installation
Easy installation by eliminating the need for extending the gear case vent to the atmosphere.
Space-Saving Design
The oil mist remover of the New DSP Series requires less space than the conventional model. Newly designed for package build-in.
